Well eventually one has to realise that they should have seen it coming, as clear as the Collins College Website. I have seen my cousin, as young as 8 years old, playing games such as Grand Theft Auto. Now, as anyone will know Grand Theft Auto is no child’s play. It involves the main character going around taking cars forcibly and committing violence towards bystanders. Sometimes even shooting is involved. This game is rated as Mature but his parents allow him to play the game. I have played it myself and although it is fun but I can say its really violent.
But will I allow my child to play such games? I think in the end, it goes back to upbringing and how one views life that determines to what extent video games, especially violent ones, influence the direction of one’s character.
