ACT seniors offered cheap travel in Tasmania
A trip to the Apple Isle is about to become a little bit cheaper for ACT seniors.
Holders of the Seniors Card will soon be able to travel on public transport in Tasmania at concessional rates.
ACT Chief Minister Jon Stanhope says he has struck a bilateral deal with the state after becoming frustrated by the lack of progress on a national seniors regime.
“I think it’s a great deal, a
Hot Plate Stirrer. I think to some extent I see it as a breaking of the dyke,” he said.
“The ACT and Tasmania now will enter into a memorandum of understanding, a bilateral agreement for ACT senior to be able to use their seniors card for concessional travel in Tasmania and vice versa.
“I’m very pleased, I think it’s a major breakthrough.”
